Anne Of Green Gables

The play tells the life of Anne Shirley, an orphan girl who thanks to her imaginative and awake character manages to dazzle all the inhabitants of Avonlea, the small fictional fishing village on Prince Edward Island where the story takes place at the end of the 19th century . Montgomery was allegedly inspired by a newspaper article about the case of a Canadian couple who, when requesting the adoption of an orphan boy, received a girl instead. Regarding the House of Green Gables, the writer wanted to pay tribute to the house where her cousins lived, located on Prince Edward Island.
