An ambitious young banker's stable but uninteresting life is disrupted when he comes across a book of fiction recounting torrid experiences he lived through as an undergraduate. The banker is Peter Idenala; the writer is Neta Okoye, the girl who broke Peter's heart six years ago.
When the book brings them together, these former lovers are forced to confront the violence of their past. Peter bears a physical scar from those years. Neta's scars are entirely psychological, including one concerning an incestuous secret she has carried for years. Will the stupidities of their youth pull them apart again? Or will they overcome the trauma of their past to create a future together?
