Jay Riskin, is 60 years old, in good health and, a regular jogger in Central Park, New York City, is married to Maddie, with two children and is a well published mystery writer who has had little commercial success and is quite bitter. He is concerned that a new invention, that he has dreamt about, will replace writers and it will be impossible for him to earn any sort of living. There will be no need for him.
He decides he has to have money and learns how to use a weapon and plans to rob a Walmart. During the undertaking of the robbery he gets a call and learns that Maddie has been attacked by a mugger. The mugger receives a not guilty verdict which infuriates Jay. The muggers seeks revenge on Jays family and Jay seeks to stop him.
