Jeff Riegel, a new York City resident and writer, who despite some modest success as a writer, a loving wife Michelle, two happy sons, the cities great museums, one of the world's best libraries where he works, a fabulous record collection and being able to recall hundreds of lyrics which he loved singing to his wife and kids is plagued with sadness and depression . A hit and run accident brings further misery to Jeff and makes it impossible for him to write. Despite Michell's objections Jeff seeks revenge without sucess . A second accident sinks Jeff into deeper sadness exacerbated by

the leniency imposed upon the driver who killed his love. He is more determined than ever to seek revenge . In taking his son do school every day he discovers his son has a great aptitude for math and teaches him the uniqueness and specialness of the number four. He discovers that even though he has lost something wonderful that it's possible to have something wonderful happen again.
