Resident Evil (2026 Film)

In Zach Cregger's film "Resident Evil," Austin Abrams plays the medic courier Bryan, who undertakes a seemingly routine task of delivering a biomedical package. But what begins as an ordinary workday quickly develops into a nightmare, as Bryan inadvertently finds himself in the middle of a catastrophic zombie outbreak. Trapped in an increasingly chaotic and deadly situation, he must fight his way through one terrifying night.

Cregger has drawn inspiration directly from the experience of playing Resident Evil and translates the series' characteristic combination of exploration, limited resources, grotesque monsters, and sudden shocks into film format. The story takes place around the Raccoon City disaster, but follows new characters rather than retelling stories about well-known game characters like Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine.

The screenplay is written by Zach Cregger together with Shay Hatten, known from John Wick: Chapter 4, among others. The result is a reinterpretation that stands on its own, but at the same time harks back to the claustrophobic and relentless horror that made the original Resident Evil games classics.
