Italian tenor Beniamino Gigli was arguably the most talented and lauded opera star of the 1920's. Sometimes compared to his fellow countryman Enrico Caruso, Gigli's voice was powerful, beautiful, and romantic. This release contains two different performances of Gigli starring in AVE MARIA, one shot in German and the other shot in Italian. Gigli passionately plays a middle-aged singer whose wife has just passed away. As he finds new love, the story becomes beautiful and triumphant.
