The Austrian premier of Alban Berg's darkly satirical opera, recorded live at Vienna's Theater an Der Wien in 1962. In what proved to be a career-defining performance, American soprano Evelyn Lear takes on the role of Lulu, a femme fatale who descends from life as a society hostess into prostitution. Other cast members include Rudolph Schock, Paul Schöffler and Josef Knapp.
The conductor is Karl Böhm.
