Collection of four British films produced by Ealing Studios. 'Eureka Stockade' (1949) is set during the 1850s Australian gold rush as miners struggle bitterly for basic working rights. In 'Take a Chance' (1937) the wife of a successful racehorse trainer falls for a young man who, unbeknown to her, has a hidden agenda - a desire to learn her husband's horse training secrets...
In 'The Gaunt Stranger' (1938) a lawyer receives an alarming note promising that he'll be dead within a few days leading to a frantic police investigation to catch the would-be killer. Finally, 'Play Up the Band' (1935) tells the story of a brass band's attempts to transcend their humble origins by making it to an illustrious contest and stars Stanley Holloway.
