The true story of the students from the Virginia Military Institute, who were sent to the front at the end of the American civil war by the desperate military leaders of the Confederacy. President Lincoln and General Grant propel their northern troops ever deeper into the South. The Shenandoah Valley is rich in farmland and vital to the Southern Confederacy. Grant is hellbent on conquering this valley. The former vice president and brilliant General Breckinridge is responsible for keeping the Valley out of enemy hands. At the nearby Military Academy teen boys dreams of heroic exploits, glorious victories and beautiful girls who fall hard for them. Their dreams end abruptly when the desperate Confederate Army leader, General Lee, orders them to help in the defense of the Valley. Breckinridge ignores Lee's orders and refuses to use the children in battle. But as the Yankees advance and the losses of the Confederacy increase, he rapidly runs out of options. And the day of the all-decisive battle draws near...
