This new release features three orchestral works by Richard Strauss written when he was a young man. His brilliance can already be heard in these early pieces, and these pieces have been far too rarely recorded. He is joined here by the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra with Jon Ceander Mitchell at the helm. Burleske for Piano and Orchestra in D minor, AV 85 / Suite for 13 Winds in B flat major, Op. 4 / Serenade for Winds in E flat major, Op. 7.
This album features three early orchestral works by Richard Strauss that are far too seldom performed. All three were written before Strauss became famous for his tone poems. They clearly show the influence of Brahms and Wagner, but also demonstrate the composer's own voice.
