Matt Sharp, co-founder of Weezer and the band's original bassist, while working on a series of "lost albums" from the cutting room floor of his creative life, stumbled upon a fascinating multitrack reel-to-reel tape with analog recordings. This mysterious reel of tape, found at the bottom of a treasure chest filled with other master tapes, turned out to contain Weezer's very first studio recordings.

It was precisely these recordings that secured the band a record deal for their iconic debut album Blue Album. The newly discovered sessions feature raw, intensely emotional, and euphoric versions of the band's timeless hits "Say It Ain't So" and "Undone (The Sweater Song)".

Matt Sharp and legendary producer Joe Chiccarelli took the recordings to Los Angeles' famous East/West Studios to examine the mythical 1-inch Ampex tape reel more closely. Here, they quickly discovered the original lineup – with guitarist Jason Cropper – in an infectious, explosively energetic, and untamed form.

To respect the music's original intention and the traditional technology of the time, the songs were remixed from start to finish in a 100% analog process, from tape to vinyl. With Sharp as producer and Chiccarelli behind the mix, the result of these recordings forms the entire album 1192, named after the month and year in which the recordings were originally made.

The radiant energy of the performances on 1192 is guaranteed to turn the world upside down for fans of the Blue Album. The album stands on its own as an essential part of Weezer's discography and is crucial for understanding the first chapter in the band's history.
