Best known for his trademark honky-tonk sound, which led to his nickname "The Texas Troubadour," Ernest became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1965. His distinctive style is best exemplified in his re-recording of "Walkin' the Floor Over You"; other re-recordings of his #1 hits highlighted on this production include "Soldier's Last Letter," "It's Been So Long Darling" and "Rainbow at Midnight."
