Send In The Clowns
Sarah Vaughan
Sarah Vaughan and her trio collaborated with the Count Basie Orchestra on this 1981 album – one of three studio sessions in total! With “Send In The Clowns”, they created a magical album that recalls the days when the singer and orchestra shared the stage at the legendary Birdland. The program looks back on the singer's long career and includes not only Vaughan's early hit “If You Could See Me Now” but also one of her last signature songs: the title track! The entire program, arranged with great flair by Sammy Nestico and Allyn Ferguson, is a masterpiece in which Vaughan pulls out all the stops in a setting that does justice to her sublime voice.
