Recorded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1976, "Shades of Brown" by the John Wagner Coalition was released on vinyl as a limited edition of 1000 copies, making it a rare collector's item among fans of 1970's funk. Recorded as a tribute album to the music of James Brown, the album was produced by John Wagner and features Jack Kane and Mike Weatherly on bass; Jose Jimenez on congas; Ralph Gonzales on drums; Roger Jannotta on flute; Rich Oppenheim on flute and saxophone; David Nunez and Steve Miller on guitar; Chuck Klingbell and Michael Maddux on keyboards; Richard Davies on trombone; Robert Seely on trumpet; Corliss Nelson on violin and Steve Miller and Janis Russell on vocals. All selections newly remastered.
