Johann Rosenm Ller: German Sacred Concer
Arno Paduch / Johann
Johann Rosenmüller (1619-1684) spent more than a decade at the Thomasschule in Leipzig and was already considered the new Thomaskantor when his promising career was abruptly interrupted: accused of pederasty, he had to flee Leipzig in 1655, went first to Hamburg and then to Venice, where he worked for the next 28 years.
In Catholic Venice he wrote church music in Latin - the German sacred concerts presented on this CD, however, probably all originate from his Leipzig period.
