American Agonistes is about the struggle for the soul of our constitutional democracy amid world tension and conflict. It stands within the long tradition of music addressing larger social and political issues. Blood on the Sun/New Moon Rising was recorded eight days after 9/11 and the rest of the tracks: Fallen Truth, Big Oil Tango, the Prevaricator, Theocracy in America and Sounding Peace all reflect the theme of the recording.
