Vocalist Helen Sheppard dedicates "Oyster Love" to all lovers past, present and future. Influenced by Cole Porter, Billie Holiday, Jobim, Gershwin, Bacharach and others, Sheppard has tried to let their subconscious direct her writing. She says: "Gone are the days of 'lovin' dat man' no matter what he does and being a victim of circumstance. I present an alternative to the notion that the blues are caused by someone or something else in my songs - I tell the story of how I came to realize that I have created all my troubles and if I want a better life then I had better make it that way myself." This album was recorded live in two days at "The Premises Studio" Hackney Road, London with no overdubs. Produced by Leo Feigin.
