Sabin Todorov's trio will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2002, Todorov's plan was to cross modern jazz with the rhythms and melodies of traditional music from his home country, Bulgaria. This he succeeded on the first two albums, Inside Story (2008) and Inside Story 2 (2010), both released by Igloo. After a long period of exploring trends, structures and interactions in modern jazz, the trio is back with a third album, ten tracks entirely composed and arranged for the trio by the pianist.

Archaeology should be understood as a metaphor for the inner journey. A journey that delves into our memory and subconscious and draws out wonders, such as: the little melody in the title track; the spirituality of an old book that inspired My Name Is Sadness; the magnificent aesthetic of the film «Dreams» (1990) by the Japanese director Akira Kurosawa evoked in Kurosawa's Fox Wedding; Flight Over The Ocean and El Hierro that draw their inspiration from the beauty of nature; or Game of Fear and What a Mess, two tracks steeped in fear and the feeling of chaos but also by humour.
