Celebrating two decades since its original release, Hey Hey My My Yo Yo returns in a vibrant purple vinyl edition, a fitting tribute to one of Danish pop’s most daring and beloved records. Originally released in August 2005, this was Junior Senior’s second — and final — full-length studio album, following their breakthrough debut D-D-Don’t Don’t Stop the Beat (2002).

From the opening grooves of “Hip Hop a Lula” to the playful energy of “Can I Get Get Get,” the album sharpened the duo’s sound: less disjointed genre-hopping, more focused homage to disco, funk, Motown girl-groups, early rap, synths, and big hooking bass lines. It revealed maturation in songcraft, while retaining the irrepressible joy and dance-floor energy that made Jesper “Junior” Mortensen and Jeppe “Senior” Laursen household names.

After their massive hit “Move Your Feet” and the exuberant success of their debut, this sophomore effort confirmed that their artistry could go beyond novelty — but also marked what would be their final full album, before the duo dissolved in 2008 to pursue separate projects.
