JAZZ STANDARDS LIVE is an album where two musicians

- Kenny Wheeler, a trumpeter and composer profi cient in

various jazz styles, and saxophonist Rain Sultanov, known

for his distinctive sound and style -present a virtuoso

performance. It presents the first physical release of this

unique performance ever! The combination of two primary

instruments, the tenor saxophone and trumpet, in a

quintet creates a warm timbre and a unique sound

reminiscent of the late 1970s and early 1980s in Herbie

Hancock‘s V.S.O.P. quintet with Freddie Hubbard and

Wayne Shorter. The album includes both well-known jazz

standards and original compositions by Kenny Wheeler.

Noteworthy is the extraordinary performance by pianist

Shahin Novrasli, which gives the project a special mood, as

well as the dynamic playing of drummer

Paul Clarvis and bassist Ruslan Guseynov.
