50 Famous Stories Retold James Baldwin
50 Famous Stories Retold
James Baldwin
Legendary tales of the lives of famous people and historic episodes. Of these fifty stories, some have historical value, some are useful as giving point to certain great moral truths, and others are intended only to amuse. A few of these stories are from very ancient sources and are current in the literature of many lands, while many of more recent origin have come to us through the ballads and folk tales of the English people. Nearly all are frequently alluded to in poetry and prose. James Baldwin was born in 1841 and died in 1925. For eighteen years he held the post of superintendent of the graded schools in Indiana, and afterwards began editing and writing educational books of his own. Beginning in 1882, with The Story of Siegfried, he went on to write more than fifty others. His influence was widely felt because at one time it was estimated that of all the school books in use in the United States, over HALF had been written or edited by him. Cliff Roles, after a career promoting famous rock stars, moved to the US five years ago from Germany. An actor in demand in Sarasota, FL, he also voices commercials, hosts Talk of the Sun Coast on WSLR Community Radio, writes monthly for SCENE Magazine, and is the Master of Ceremonies for countless community events & fund raisers.
