Following the stock market crash of 1929, one of the greatest depressions since 1873 hit the world. Jobs evaporated causing a human wave to sweep North America seeking any kind of employment they could find. Often these men resorted to begging for food as they passed through the various communities. This was especially true in the farming areas where money had always been in short supply, but food was more plentiful. These men, soon known as hobos, travelled on the slow moving trains passing through these rural areas and appealed to the local farmers and their families for help while they continued their quest for employment. This book tells the stories of some of the people who fed these travelling men.
