Christians and Tithing
Charles Vogan
Amost everyone knows that the Bible tells God's people that they must tithe their income - that is, to give a tenth of what they earn to the work of the Lord. But unfortunately most people haven't bothered to look at the actual commands in the Law of God that demand the tithe. If they would, they would find that it was for purposes that are no longer possible in our Church age. And yet most pastors and ministers almost demand it of their congregations (even though they know that Christians are not obligated to fulfill the Law of Moses now!) becuase they are desperate to finance the physical needs of the church. The New Testament does not teach the necessity for Christians to tithe - instead, it has a far greater measure of devotion for God's people to attain.
