Christmases Past
Susan Buffum
A family struggles during the Depression as December 25th approaches. With very little money, sickness in the house, snow and ice storms making travel difficult, and not even a tree in the house, Christmas looks very bleak indeed in Paper Chains. In Christmas 1951 a young widow and her daughter face a quiet holiday until a stranger knocks Mary Murphy off her feet. In the sequel to Christmas 1951 we find Molly and her mother the following Christmas struggling with separation from a loved one and uncertainty about the future. Molly wants to make her mother happy, but nearly ruins Christmas by doing what she thinks is best for her.
