Canadian English is a unique, living organism deeplyaffected by grandiose varieties of English and otherlanguages as well as a huge array of sociolinguisticand economic factors. Based on the thorough studiesof distinguished linguists, this thesis aims toreflect on the evolution of Canadian English, andseeks to give a description of this variety from aphonological, morphosyntactical and lexical point ofview by comparing it to the British and Americanvarieties of English and presenting several of itsdialects to the readers. Although very little study has been done on this moreor less independent and exclusive version of Englishand it is still awaiting exploration, it isendangered by the aggressive processes ofglobalization and the loss of certain individualtraits, regional varieties and underlying culturalvalues can be foreseen. This book is meant to document Canadian English thuspreserving as much of it as possible, and to helpthose studying Canadian English to gain easy accessto this field of academic research.
