C-reactive protein is a highly conserved plasma protein and a preferred marker for diabetes. High sensitivity CRP is associated with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and type2 diabetes. High level of CRP is associated with indices of metabolic syndrome that include obesity, hypertriglyceridemia, low HDL, hypertension and high blood pressure. Inflammation such as insulin resistance, insulin secretion abnormality, obesity and lipolysis act as inflammatory stimulus for the elevated level of CRP. Plasma CRP level is high in metabolic syndromes than non-metabolic syndrome subjects. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of diabetes development there was a significant correlation between CRP and body mass index. Among individuals with BMI <18.5 kg/m2 the average concentration of CRP was low and it increased with increasing BMI. . Estimates of CRP provide an index of average control of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. In present study Random plasma glucose was closely associated with CRP. There was a positive significant correlation between them (r =0.98) which indicate direct relation between CRP and Random plasma glucose.
