Gender Programmes: the Effectiveness of Gender Programmes in Promoting Gender Equality Natnael Lemma

The primary objective of the study is investigating the effectiveness of Debub FM gender programmes in promoting gender equality. To this end, the research employed questionnaire and interview in both languages Amharic and English for the target group as instrument of gathering necessary data. Questionnaire was distributed for 30 selected listeners; 20 are males and the other 10 are female. And the interview for 3 selected persons. The two are females from the selected professionals and the one is male from selected listener. Finally, based on the finding of this research, it can be concluded that Debub FM gender programmes are playing a great part in shaping the listeners? attitude towards gender equality positively. This can be measured by the attention and priority given to women?s programme in Debub FM. The gender programme in Debub FM Fithih Lehulum and Yesetoch Raey play a great role in changing the negative stereotype of the people towards women and educate the society to banned traditional harmful practice like women circumcision and abduction.
