Amino Acids Function in Plants
Ali Salehi Sardoei
Amino acids as a precursor to some plant hormones help absorb elements by increasing plant growth and developing the root system. The amino acids production becomes difficult or stopped under adverse environmental conditions, which consumption of amino acids as fertilizer eliminates the need to make it with the plant and makes possible for the plant to use its stored energy for further growth and increase yield and product quality. Amino acids have a significant effect on plant growth and yield by affecting the resistance to environmental stresses, increasing the concentration of chlorophyll and thus affecting photosynthesis. In the carbohydrates-deficient plant, amino acids can act as a source of carbon and energy source, in such a way that certain amino acids releases ammonia, and organic acids, of which amino acids are originally composed.
