At the present stage of development of economic relations, the state system is based on the principle of direct financing of medical and preventive institutions and guarantees free medical care, which is a public health care system, the economic basis of which is financing from the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund. The Compulsory Health Insurance Fund is formed from various sources of financing: funds from the state budget, contributions of enterprises, entrepreneurs and workers. In a narrow sense, it is a process of receipt of financial resources and their expenditure for therapeutic and preventive care, which gives a guarantee of receiving this care, with its volume and nature being determined by the conditions of the insurance contract.
