Death Cab For Cutie | I Built You A Tower

Death Cab For Cutie's new album "I Built You A Tower" will be released via ANTi and thus marks their first release outside the major label system in over two decades.

The album was written and recorded in a concentrated series of sessions with producer John Congleton, primarily at his Animal Rites studio in Los Angeles, supplemented by additional home recordings, and encapsulates a band working with renewed immediacy and clarity.

At its core, "I Built You A Tower" explores themes of emotional fragmentation, grief, and resilience. Lead singer Ben Gibbard has described the album's central metaphor – "the tower" – as a way to contain loss and trauma, while acknowledging how these buried emotions inevitably resurface.
