Iceage | For Love of Grace & The Hereafter
'For Love of Grace & the Hereafter' is the sixth studio album from the beloved Danish quintet Iceage. Throughout the album's extensive 12-song run, a universe of love expands and contracts in an eternal tango, while Elias Rønnenfelt's lyrics move with presence, and the band masterfully maneuvers within their ever-changing, magnificent post-punk landscape.
'For Love of Grace & the Hereafter' marks a new chapter for one of the most influential bands of the last decade (all five of their albums have received Pitchfork's coveted “Best New Music”), moving far beyond their original post-punk framework towards something more fluid, genre-defying, and generation-defining. Throughout the album, there is a new glow over the band - it is both playful and as serious as ever, growing and sparkling through love.
As a solo artist, Elias Rønnenfelt has moved at the intersection of Copenhagen indie, pan-European art-pop, British experimental music, and internet-born rap and R&B - from the folky, quirky Yung Lean / Fousheé collaboration “Little Gods” to the self-produced “Mona Lisa”. Rønnenfelt's collaborative 2024 EP with Dean Blunt, lucre, quickly became a cult phenomenon with over 40 million streams and counting. Cameron Winter from Geese also highlighted Rønnenfelt's 2024 album 'Heavy Glory' as one of his favorites that year.
