Spanish drama directed by Luis Oliveros. Chess champion Diego Padilla (Marc Clotet) leaves his hometown of Madrid with his wife, Marianne Latour (Melina Matthews), and young daughter as the Spanish Civil War breaks out. Relocating to Paris, Diego and his young family's life is thrown into further turmoil when the Nazi's invade France.
Things get worse when Diego is imprisoned on false charges of spying. When he discovers that head of prison Maier (Stefan Weinert) has a love of chess Diego uses his previous expertise to make his incarceration bearable.
