In Photons and Furry Tales, life throws a few curves to our two heroes. Cat is forced to take over the throne, a job he has been avoiding for some time. Now he is not just king of a single planet, he is the emperor of a steadily growing domain that includes two planets in the Alpha Quadrant and several in the Gamma Quadrant. Meanwhile Centaur is facing a few problems of his own, which includes setting up the first major university on Mythos. Both of our heroes still struggle with the boundary between magic and science, and how to classify the difference between ancient mythology and futuristic technology. But the biggest threat of all comes not from off planet, but from Cat trying to help another dimension traveler. Cat learns the hard way that even the Emperor can make some very big mistakes that could threaten the very existence of Mythos.
